getting to Italy -- not for the faint-hearted

Frejus Road Tunnel -- Google search will bring up Wikipedia.  All the facts are there -- it is a very long tunnel, speed is controlled so that you are not going very fast, it is a very long tunnel, you are given a procedures "hang-tag" (printed front and back in 4 languages -- one side is how to go through the tunnel, the other is what to do if you have to stop) at the toll plaza before you enter, and it is a very long tunnel.  And, by the way, we didn't know it is approximately 8 miles long until we got to Rome.

At half-way in we wanted out . . . we settled for taking some pictures and deep-breathing exercises.
At halfway point (approximately 4 miles) -- starting to feel claustrophobic
No end in sight?  How long is this thing?!?
Starting to get tunnel vision . . .
Greenish glow on right -- one of the emergency exits so you can escape (in case of an emergency).  I was starting to feel like escape was becoming an emergent need.
At long last -- light at the end of the tunnel!
We are free!!!!  Yay!!!  :)
Not a tunnel for the faint-hearted I assure you.  Further on we get to explore its exact opposite.  Yes, that means . . .oh, no spoilers here! -- you are going to have to come back and find out what later.  ;)
