Monsieur Souris and his new friends

Throughout the various places we have traveled, M. Souris is making new friends.
M. Souris et Grenouille

M. Souris et No-no
We met these two delightful friends in Lyon during our visit to University Lyon 1.  Everyone we met at UL1 was friendly and interested in the research that was presented.  We learned about some of the things they are doing too.  We were treated to some good food as well.  The French bring a whole new meaning to the term "box lunch" and it is WAY better than ours.  Salmon steak with wild rice and vegetables, a side dish of tabbouleh with sauteed vegetables, a cheese, dessert, and bread.  It beat the heck out of a sandwich, chips, and a cookie.

Almost everywhere the restaurants offer indoor and outdoor seating.  The weather has been so lovely that eating outdoors is nice.  Here we are at Le Summertime on a side street in Lyon.  The meal was superb.  I had turkey (dinde) brochettes with gravy.  There was also a salad, bread, and something else on the plate that I know that I ate, but I can't remember what it was -- rice, potatoes, something that was yummy anyway.

If you have any room after the superb meals order the ice cream for dessert.  Oh my goodness!  The flavors are so rich and bold that the ice cream back home just does not compare.  You will have to trust me on this until you get over here and have some, then you will understand completely.  The only ice cream that has disappointed so far was an ice-cream push-up pop and no one really expects those to be haute cuisine anyway.

Well, talking about food has made me hungry.  Gotta go rummage through the fridge and find a quick snack.  Au revoir mon amis!
